Blanco Wilczynski Obtains Summary Disposition and Dismissal with Prejudice in Paramedic Liability Case

Butler v. Paramed Inc. et.al. Kent County Circuit Court, Case No: 14-03882-NO, May 1, 2015

Blanco Wilczynski obtained summary disposition in Kent County Circuit Court, in a matter alleging that Defendant’s Paramedics negligently lowered a hospital bed, resulting in a crush injury to Plaintiff’s foot. Plaintiff was the mother of an 8 month old baby taken to the hospital with an allergic food reaction that caused respiratory compromise. After the ambulance crew had successfully completed the transfer of the baby patient to the emergency department treatment room, the hospital bed was lowered onto plaintiff’s foot. Plaintiff claimed that she suffered a crush injury to the foot, resulting in surgery. Blanco Wilczynski was successful in proving that the hospital bed had been lowered by a nurse and not the paramedics, entitling Defendant Ambulance Company to summary disposition and dismissal with prejudice.

The matter was handled by Partner Orlando L. Blanco, who heads up the Firm’s Insurance Defense and Ambulance Practice Areas.
