Derek S. Wilczynski, one of the partners of Blanco Wilczynski, P.C., joined the firm in March of 2003. Mr. Wilczynski leads the firm's General Practice section, including Immigration Law, Family Law, Criminal Law, and Identity Theft and Credit Protection Law. In addition, Mr. Wilczynski litigates for the firm's transportation and EMS clients in the areas of general liability and Worker's Compensation.
Mr. Wilczynski attended Oakland University, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Political Science, with minors in History and Communications, in 1993. While at Oakland University, Mr. Wilczynski was President of the student body from 1992-1993. Mr. Wilczynski attended Wayne State University, where he received his Juris Doctor in 1997. While at Wayne State, Mr. Wilczynski was a member of the Student Board of Governors. Mr. Wilczynski was admitted to practice in November of 1997.
Mr. Wilczynski first became an associate attorney at Willmarth Tanoury, where his practice was split between medical malpractice, primarily for the Detroit Medical Center and Oakwood Hospital, and general liability defense, primarily for Target, Mervyn's, and Office Max. In June of 2000, Mr. Wilczynski became associated with Johnson, Rosati, LaBarge, Aseltyne & Field, P.C. His practice was general, with a focus on Family Law, Criminal Defense and Civil Litigation defense (primarily in the Municipal Law area). While at Johnson, Rosati, LaBarge, Aseltyne & Field, P.C., Derek developed significant trial experience as the Assistant Municipal Attorney for Harper Woods and Richmond Township in the State of Michigan.
Mr. Wilczynski has served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers' Section of the Macomb County Bar Association, as well as a member of the general section of the Macomb County Bar Association. He is also an active member of the Advocates Polish American Bar Association, the Polish Century Club, and Rotary International.
